Styles and Such

I am running Mandrake 10.1 with KDE 3.3. I have seen many cool Screenshots from various distros/WMs. Paticularly, in this screenshot...

http://fluxbox.sourceforge.net/zoom....es_fluxbox.jpg

(I know they are using Fluxbox)...how can I get the look of the two upper corners? Are those just images or are they actually borderless, transparent apps? Is there anyway to do that stuff w/KDE?

Hi,

The top left is a transparent terminal/ konsole. Try eterm and use Bruno's useful info: http://www.brunolinux.com/02-The_Ter...t_Console.html

For the top right, on KDE you can use SuperKaramba, and a system monitor theme. Try www.kde-look.org for these things - and many other useful things also.

Hope this helps,

Andy

Thanks for the info.

One more thing. I really like that style of background. Any idea as to where to get something like that?

Not sure about that exact wallpaper, but try http://www.deviantart.com/

Has alot of decent stuff...

Cool. Thanks for the link. One more question...

Here is a snapshot of my desktop...

http://www.optima-computers.com/snapshot1.jpg

Do you see how the applications in my taskbar are filled in with gray? Is there anyway to make that black and the text white or make them transparent?

Also, is there a way to remove Eterm from the taskbar?

For the taskbar, try Taskbar v2 - http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=16261

As for eterm, I don't know about removing it, I have the same probelm myself. I'm sure its possible, probably someone on here will know....

RySk8er30 04-23-2005 02:50 PM

Ok, here's what I ended up doing. I am using Eterm. To get ANY application to not display in the taskbar do the following command...

kstart --window ProgramName --skiptaskbar ProgramName

If anyone has any question, let me know.

Ryan
