Try doing
$update-menus

There are a few options so you may wanna do
$update-menus -h
to find out the right options to restore your menu to the original Manndrake menu.

This may be of help:
Quote:

Tip
While modifying your menus, you might make a big mess out of them... Remember that you can reload the menus as you last saved them by pressing the Ctrl-R keys (or accessing the File->Reload user config sub-menu). You can also revert to the default menus by accessing the File->Reload system menu sub-menu.

The above tip is from the MenuDrake documentation. Copy and paste:
file:/usr/share/doc/mandrake/en/Drakxtools-Guide.html/menudrake.html
into your browser address bar and press enter, if you have the doc installed it will appear in your browser. If not, the relevent part is quoted above.

i think i know what the problem is. wheni went to root and see if i could change anything, Mandrake menu editor opened up. So now when i open the editor, it opens the k menu editor. how can i open the mandrake menu editor?

Lakota 01-27-2005 12:11 PM

simply open a terminal window and type "menudrake" without the quotation marks.

liljhand 01-27-2005 05:21 PM

well that opened the mandrake editor, and i set everthing to default but it still doesnt look like the old one. everything looks default in the editor but it is actuall not. isnt there any option that can override the k menu editor and keep mandrake menu's options?

Lakota 01-28-2005 08:11 AM

- open menudrake
- under the "Action" tab, choose "Modify menu style"
- choose "Use system administrator settings"
- under the "File" tab, choose "save"
- now check your menu
