Here's the gist of things right now. I installed Mandrake 10.0, and upon attempting to start the X server, have been having endless problems.

Everything works fine until I try to start the server, when the screen suddenly turns into an amorphous blob.

I was going over the modelines earlier, and have attempted some six variations on the known working display modes for the C1V picturebooks(1024x480 LCD). Nothing has worked. I've encountered the same problem over and over again. At the moment, I cannot get a whole copy of the XF86Config-4 file, but if anyone wishes to see segments, I'd be glad to type them in manually.

What is bugging me is that I've used the first two of these repeatedly on Suse 8.2 and earlier Mandrake distributions. Upon installing 10.0, it was an instant no-go.
