Select boot options in shutdown menu?

Hi!

I'm trying to get a feature back, which I had in Mandrake 9.1. Now in 9.2 it seems to be gone. When I wanted to reboot my system I used to be able to select the options of my boot manager. E.g. I could chose "reboot on Windows" or "reboot with a different kernel". Now I can only reboot and I have to wait for the boot manager (lilo) to come up to select a boot image.

Is there an (easy) way to change it back?

Thx,
Dominik

Run "kcontrol"
Click "Login Manager" under "System"
Look in the "Shutdown" tab for a group called "LILO"; there should be a "Show boot options" check box. Make sure it's checked.

The "Show boot options" checkbox is in a slightly different menu on my computer, but nevertheless it does not work. It was already checked, but turning in off and on again does not work either. Any other suggestions?

Could it be possible that you're using gdm or xdm now? Rather than kdm/mdkkdm?

P.S: Sorry about former directions. I forgot that I'm on KDE 3.2 on this box, in 3.1 it's under "Sessions".

I don't know. (me=newbie) How can I find out?

OK, I figured out, that I'm definately using KDM.

When I click "K-menu -> Log off..." and then "Log in as a different user", then the login manager comes up. And there I can select "Shutdown..." where a menu comes up where I can chose to reboot on any drive I want.

But I want the option right in "K-menu -> Log off...". It used to be there in Mdk 9.1. But now there's only this stupid green dragon any more. :(

Well, I've never seen LILO reboot options in the Logout dialog before. I guess that might be kinda nice, maybe, but I couldn't really help you as I've never seen that functionality before.

If you're referring to the difference in the dialog where it says "Logout", "Turn off computer", or "Restart Computer", versus just the dialog asking whether you're sure you'd like to logout, then that's probably related to kdm/mdkkdm. I think if you have mdkkdm, versus the normal kdm, it might not show you the other two options (same as if you're using gdm, xdm, etc.).

Otherwise, sorry, but I can't recall ever seeing LILO reboot options in the logout dialog (been using KDE 2.2-3.2)
