RPM installer doesn't see my kernel-source ?

I installed Mandrake 10.1 , being sure to select the development option during installation.
I was very surprised that with that option selected, the kernel-source package was not installed.
So I tried to install it with the Mandrake control center, add, remove, update software and ... the kernel-source RPM was not listed when asking to list the available packages for install in alphabetical order.
I know the kernel-source RPM is there because I opened my distro DVD and the kernel-source RPM that matchs my kernel ( defailt kernel ) is there.
Does someone has any explaination for that ?
tia
P.S. I want to install the kernel-source i order to install the latest ATI Radeon drivers.

Did you do a search for source? It will give you several available kernel-sources.

Yes, I did a search, but the returned kernel-source package didn't match my kernel version obtained running uname -r.
The listed kernel-source RPM was a version newer than my installed kernel.
That's why I decided to open and check the kernel-source RPM on my distro DVD. My conclusion was: The out of the box l kernel-source matching my out of the box kernel MUST be on the DVD right ? I can't imagine a Linux distro DVD without the kernel source RPM. And of course it was on the DVD.

Well then, install it from the DVD. As for why it's not there, that's weird. The only thing I can think of is that maybe somehow your DVD isn't part of the software media?

Of course, that's what I did, I installed the kernel-source directly from the DVD.
The DVD is part of the software media, because it's listed as CDROM 1, 2 and 3 in the Update media section.
