Resolution problem

I have Mandrake 9.2 installed on a radeon 9700 pro and it works flawlessly. I tried to install Mandrake on a computer with a nvidia geforce 2 ultra, but when I tried to start X, it would crash. After tweaking the config file, I got X to boot. When it does, however, it displays only in 640x480 resolution. Control + alt + num+/- doesnt work. Changing the mode section in display doesn't seem to be changing anything either (which I'm probably doing wrong, of course). The same computer runs freebsd fine at 1024x768, and the config files are almost identical it seems. Also, I have the nvidia drivers installed.

Here is my X config file:

Code:
# **********************************************************************
# Refer to the XF86Config man page for details about the format of
# this file.
# **********************************************************************

    # Multiple FontPath entries are allowed (they are concatenated together)

    # the X server to render fonts.
