google for easy-urpmi.

Follow the instructions on the page, then

Copy and paste the url's into the console/terminal to update the database.

After that (could take a while) you should be able to use urpmi to find packages.

Or search these pages (LQ) to find-out more

okay, I didn't see that yoiu had to do it in root. Will these give me things like opera, aMule and azureus as installable packages?

Yes - just not sure which repositories you have to choose. But I think they´re already included in 'main'.

You have to add the main, contrib, plf and updates repos for the version of Mandriva you are using. The "main" repo tends to include only free software, so other non free packages are in contrib and plf.

Azureus is in the contrib repo, so if you have added contrib to your urpmi sources like I suggested above, to install it just do
Code:
#urpmi azureus
I am not so sure about amule, its probably in the plf repos, so try doing
Code:
#urpmi amule
