Hi people
I have just installed Mandriva 2005 LE.
In previous versions of mandrake I have always recompiled the source RPM as described here :-
http://mandrakeusers.org/index.php?s...=4596&hl=srpm.
I normally did a recompile when a kernel update was released.
I have just tried by getting the source rpm for the kernel that comes with Mandriva 2005 (kernel-2.6.11.6mdk-1-1mdk.src.rpm).
When I goto install the athlon-kernel I get the messages that there are conflicts, this is due to me installing a kernel with the same name as the one installed.
I was advised
"Normally you change a string in the kernel's makefile so instead of being "kernel-2.6.11.6mdk" you have "kernel-2.6.11.6leg" for example."
How can I change the makefile using the following technique for recompiling?
rpm --rebuild --target YOUR_ARCH kernel.VERSION.src.rpm command.
Shall I install the source rpm?
Any help would be great.
Cheers
