maybe it has something to do w/ how the module is being loaded in the boot-up scripts on /etc/rc.d directory. If any one has any information on this it would be greatly appreciated.

As you can see in ttilt's post, it wont "fglrx:firegl_unlock" further explaination ahead, keep reading.

*Ahem*
What i mean is, that close to the end it asks what GROUP has access/permission to the driver, the default is group 0 (Root group) choose group 1, i think thats the user group.

This may/may not be the problem, to try and see if this is the problem start up as the good ol' superuser Mr. Root and go into GUI mode and try and play either Tux Racer or that spaceship/shoot'em up game, if it runs perfectly under root then thats the prob, group 1 (user group) doesnt have permission to load the driver!

i tried running as root but still no open gl...

i redid my fglrxconfig and at the end the choices are 1 thru 6 ( i think)
and 1 is the default which gives access to ALL users.
group 3 is root...

i think i'm about ready to try mandrake 9.1
