Write it as a image file (your burning application should be able to help) and modify bios settings to boot first from cd/dvd.

There are at least two possible problems here. Firstly, are you sure you burned the DVD ISO image to create a bootable DVD? Are you sure your system is configured to boot from the DVD drive?
You can answer the first question easily, by looking at the DVD filesystem from Windows. If it shows a single large file called 'whatever.ISO', then you've done it incorrectly. I don't know what software you've used to do the burn, but you need to do something named 'create DVD from ISO', or words to that effect. There is a bunch of help on this subject in the LQ Linux Tutorials section.
The second possibility will involve exploring your system's BIOS configuration to enable booting from the DVD.

Also, a thread title such as "Question . . ." is not very informative. Most of those who frequent this forum do not have the time to read such vaguely titled posts. I nearly passed this one by, but decided to offer some advise for your future use of this or any help forum:

The title of your post should provide some indication of your question or problem. By titling your post in an informative way, you save others the time of reading your post only to find that they do not have any information that may be helpful to you.

The content of your post should be as accurate and concise as possible. Include any information or details you think may be pertinent, but be careful to keep the initial post as brief as possible. In other words, do not include the entire output of dmsg which may consist of hundreds of lines when only two or three lines are pertinent to your issue.

Most importantly, search LQ for an answer to your question or trouble before you start a new thread. If you are a Linux newbie, you are not the first one. It is very possible that your question or trouble has been answered or solved already.

Finally, always remember that no one who frequents LQ (or any other Linux help forum) has any obligation to help. Most of us who have used Linux for any length of time have had to ask for help more than once, and helping newer users is a way of giving a little of that help back to the community. It is in that spirit that I post this reply in hopes it will help you in the future,
