I am getting ready to switch from dialup Internet access to DSL, and am going to try to setup a wireless LAN for my various computers here at home (3 desktops, a couple of laptops, and an 802.11b-equipped Sony handheld). Two of the computers are dual-booting Windows XP and Mandrake 9.2; one is dual-booting Windows ME and Mandrake 9.2. DSL access is going to be through Qwest and my ISP. They provide an ActionTec GT701 802.11g-equipped DSL modem/router/WAP.

I'm not concerned about being able to find compatible wireless NICs for the Windows sides of the various computers.

What I /am/ looking for is recommendations on specific brands and models of wireless NICs that are known to work well with the Linux side and for which both the hardware and drivers are readily available, taking into account that I have both desktop and laptop computers to try to get hooked up (only one of the laptops is Centrino-equipped -- the other older laptop has an empty PCMCIA slot).
