pulseaudio +Mic problems

Hello every one,

I'm having a problem with pulseaudio+MIC (mandriva2008.1)... i can't use my microphone with skype (it offer many input device, still none worked) or while playing ET:QW (nothing was detected). But i can say that in the Sound Recorder that came installed my microphone works (when i look for volume while using Sound Recorder is open the normal alsa mixer (HDA Nvidia))... How can i make those things work together?

thanks in advance.

Hi, I have HDa nVidia onboard too, asus m2n-x.(MCP65 High Definition Audio, Module: ‎snd_hda_intel)

I have not used PulseAudio for the same reasons, almost.

I still use alsa and have disabled Pulse.

I'm not too sure why, but alsa still works with everything, games, movies, desktop-sounds.

It maybe that your game needs to be set to alsa, I thought pulse was like jack (qjackctl) that picked up all other sound processes and fed them through pulse to the hardware.

I'll keep an eye on this post to see what else I may learn from this question.(I could be wrong(in-accurate))

Glenn.

ok, thanks so much for your help. now another question related which is how to switch from pulseaudio to alsa?

Go to the kde-Control-Center, click Sound & Multimedia, select Sound-System, go to the Hardware tab.

It may not be needed, but you can check in MCC, system, manage system services....

and look for the pulseAudio daemon.

Currently It is not in my list.

regards, Glenn
