Proper Partitioning for possible FTP

Hey folks,
check it out...I got this wicked seagate 120gb new hard drive that I am just itchin to throw some mandrake 10 on. oh yeah...I got this little win2K thing going on in my primary hard drive but I don't think that will give me any problems...I would hate to have to give it the virtual smackdown! Now I only have community to work with atm so bear with me please. =)
So I am thinking that I want to set up an FTP site and all that insane stuff on here but when it comes to partitioning through the silly little gui they give me I am all stumped and stoopid. So my question is this...do I format the drive with / , /swat, /usr, /var, /var ftp, /var www, /home and let it rip or is there a special setting I need to address on these so I don't get the partition police breaking down my monitor for creating more than 4? Do I just set the first 4 partitions as "primary" and the next 3 as "extended" ?Would this all be easier if I just format the partitions in dos and tell the gui monster to use existing partitions so I can throw out some extension lines?
Again, goofy mandrake user, looking for partition rule help to implement FTP/www site without having 5.0 come bustin up my linux party. I have read alot about partitions lately and about formatting them in dos but nothing about how to set them up in the gui (that I can recall) which would be ideal if I could. Any size recommendations would be pretty sweet to read about also. see specs below...

newb@mandrake
x86arch
AMD xp1700+
Asus A7V266
Nvidia Geforce2 MX/MX 400
boot = Lilo@mbr.hda
hda = "win2K" = 40gb
hdb = "mandrake10 community" = 120gb (ok really it's like 111 after rebate)
