When I try to open Mandrakelinux control center, it sits at the "loading... Please wait" screen for a very long time. Is this a priorities issue? If so how do I fix it. I get similar problems trying to run other programs, but Mozilla for example, still loads quickly.
I think you need to add the name of your computer to the /etc/hosts file. Usually it contains 127.0.0.1 localhost localhost.localdomain but if you changed your computer name to mdk for example, it should read: 127.0.0.1 localhost localhost.localdomain mdk. Now the resolutions are made locally.
I dont think I changed my computer name, but as soon as I can get back into linux I will try that. Could somebody pls look at my other thread about not being able to enter graphical interface after NVidia driver install. I apologize for sounding stupid, as I have only had Mandrakelinux about a week.
