I installed Mandrake Linux distribution 9.2. I can say i like it. But, I really don't understand behaviour of this system (sometimes
i was playing with the options, and I try to install network printer. I installed some drivers that Madrake Configuartion Utilities asked me to installed, and after that all program in START menu dissapear (except some basic software). I had an Open Office, many of graphic and music programs, many games etc. now, also option "Configuate your computer" is gone. it's all gone except a basic menu. WHY? and HOW TO RETURN IT?
also, as i was playing with options, now i need to type command "kdm" in order to start graphic environment. How to change this?
Mandrake 9.2 had a buig with the menu, so you need to update your system to get all the fixes. You can even go one step further and get Mandriva 2006 because 9.2 is now a bit dated.
in configuation the desktop, I opened LookNFeel, Panels, Menu, then Edit Kmenu and at the end I choose to display both environment but i got feeling this will continue to happen (disappering). how to check this option forever
how to install an update? do i need to install completely a new version or simply by clicking update?
You start the Mandriva Control Center go to the software section and look for an icon for updates. To use 2006, then it would be better to reinstall from scratch.

Mandrake is now Mandriva. As for software, ther is lots in the mandriva repositories and you get get the instructions at easyurpmi. You need to setup the main, contrib, updates and plf repos then use rpmdrake (the software module) to search for and install software.
