Unhappy problems with sound Mdk9.1

i've been using mandrake for 1 year in may k7 700 256 sdram pc with no problems.
But, recently, i hace installed it in my pentiumII 300 64sdram with an onBoard soundcard (yamaha i think). I forgot to take a look in the sound section in the resume section and, when i restarted my PC there was no sound. The sound carda does not apear in the hardware list and i don't know how to add the soundcard in this stage. I think that it didn't autodetected de souncard during the installation because it was disabled in the bios, but know it is enabled.
Can anybody help pliz?

The command "lspci -vv" will identify your sound hardware, once you do that you need to see if the correct modules are loaded into your kernel for your hardware (you can see what modules are loaded with the "lsmod" command), cut and paste the output of "lspci -vv" that mentions your 'Multimedia Audio Controller' for us to look at - don't post the entire output - just the Audio section - along with the output from "lsmod".

Thats not a w in the lspci command, its two v's 'lspci -vv'.

Your audio controller should show up in 'lspci' anyway, here is mine for example,
Code:
bern@beast bern$ su -c lspci
Password:
00:00.0 Host bridge: nVidia Corporation: Unknown device 01e0 (rev c1)
00:00.1 RAM memory: nVidia Corporation: Unknown device 01eb (rev c1)
00:00.2 RAM memory: nVidia Corporation: Unknown device 01ee (rev c1)
00:00.3 RAM memory: nVidia Corporation: Unknown device 01ed (rev c1)
00:00.4 RAM memory: nVidia Corporation: Unknown device 01ec (rev c1)
00:00.5 RAM memory: nVidia Corporation: Unknown device 01ef (rev c1)
00:01.0 ISA bridge: nVidia Corporation nForce2 ISA Bridge (rev a4)
00:01.1 SMBus: nVidia Corporation nForce2 SMBus (MCP) (rev a2)
00:02.0 USB Controller: nVidia Corporation nForce2 USB Controller (rev a4)
00:02.1 USB Controller: nVidia Corporation nForce2 USB Controller (rev a4)
00:02.2 USB Controller: nVidia Corporation nForce2 USB Controller (rev a4)
00:05.0 Multimedia audio controller: nVidia Corporation nForce MultiMedia audio [Via VT82C686B] (rev a2)
00:06.0 Multimedia audio controller: nVidia Corporation nForce2 AC97 Audio Controler (MCP) (rev a1)
00:08.0 PCI bridge: nVidia Corporation: Unknown device 006c (rev a3)
00:09.0 IDE interface: nVidia Corporation nForce2 IDE (rev a2)
00:0c.0 PCI bridge: nVidia Corporation: Unknown device 006d (rev a3)
00:1e.0 PCI bridge: nVidia Corporation nForce2 AGP (rev c1)
01:0b.0 RAID bus controller: CMD Technology Inc Silicon Image SiI 3112 SATARaid Controller (rev 01)
02:01.0 Ethernet controller: 3Com Corporation 3C920B-EMB Integrated Fast Ethernet Controller (rev 40)
03:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc: Unknown device 4e48
03:00.1 Display controller: ATI Technologies Inc: Unknown device 4e68
bern@beast bern$
My motherboard has two onboard ethernet controllers, and I have one disabled in my bios, thus the single ethernet controller in my 'lspci' output.

umm, if you are sure its a pci snd card, run sndconfig in su mode. sndconfig is on one of the cds if command not found.

after a while it will detect your card and run a sample.

It helps that sound is on in the mcc = mdk control centre
