Problems with Mandriva 2005LE

I installed Mandriva 2005LE and it booted up!! I had much trouble with 10.1 booting. Anyway my problems are as follows: "Run" command won't work. No matter what I try and start there nothing happens (run from menu). I installed RealPlayer and it won't launch, gcc is installed, kaffeine and amarok will launch.
No sound. I'm using a creative labs 24 bit external from a usb port. Alsa 1.0.8 is installed. Xandros and Mepis detected the creative labs set up right off. When I looked for drivers in Xandros it said "Alsa Emulation".
Any ideas ? Thanks.

Try looking at KMix, sometimes when you first install the input is muted. Did RealPlayer actually install?
