Problem with USB Flash Disk

Hi, this is my first post. I bought USB Flash Disk recently and have Mandrake 9.2 installed on my computer. But I had a problem. My USB Disk (Easy Disk, from the package it stated that work fine under linux) is not hotplugable. If I plug USB disk before I boot the computer, it detected by harddrake and registered as /dev/sda1, then it works fine and mounted under /mnt/removable. When USB disk unplugged and reboot the machine, on the next boot, hardrake say that a disk have been removed. If I try to plug the usb when computer is already on, I got error that say /dev/sda1 was not present. I try to look at /var/look/messages and tail the ouput using tail -f /var/log/messages and plug the usb. the kernel detect and print a message that usb devices is plugged but not claimed by any driver. I also look at /proc/scsi/scsi, it say that no devices attached. Maybe there some configuration error, but I dont know where it is. Can anyone help me?
I had recompile my kernel, but I dont change the other configuration except the for the processor name. since I can use the USB disk when it detected by harddrake , then it might not be a kernel problem.

Is there any error message, when you try to mount it by hand ?
(As root on the command line "mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/removable")
