problem with smp kernel after mdk 9.1 to 10.2 upgrade
 

Hi all

I just updated from Mandrake 9.1 to 10.2. Initially the smp kernel (that I believe to be necessary for a single program to use both processors) was not in lilo.conf (although I could see it in /boot). After a lot of fuss, and some on-line help, I got it in there so that after login I can now see

[daniel@dodoliv jemboss]$ uname -r
2.6.11-6mdksmp

However, to my surprise, neither of the programs (unchanged) that happily used both processors under the 9.1 smp kernel are capable of using both any more. If there are any bioinformatics types out there, the programs in question are blast and pymol.

Is there a system tool to use to make sure the problem really is with the kernel, and not an issue with the programs? Has anyone else seen this?
