Problem whit sound
 

Hey - im linux new be, i had mandriva an d dont know how set sound. I have Souundblaster live!24 and Mandi detect it - i set on sound module but dont have sound :/
need help:)

If this is a new installation, the first thing to check is if you are a member of the "audio" group.
The Users and Groups area of the Mandrake Control Center will allow you to add this group.

A quick check is to redirect garbage to the /dev/dsp device. If you can as root and hear a quick burst of noise, but can't as a normal user, then the audio group membership should be the solution.
Example: ls -l ~/ >/dev/dsp

If this doesn't work, run the "alsaconfig" program. It may set up missing drivers.
Also check in a mixer such as kmix and see if both the Master and PCM inputs are potted up. Also make sure that it isn't muted.

There is one other thing that can cause a problem. Open the KDE control center. Select "Sound & Multimedia". Select "Sound System". On the bottom of the screen is a slider for "Auto Suspend". Shorten the time to between 2-5 seconds.

:( still nothing work - kmix is disable (have strange little red cross on icon)
when systen reboot mandi give communicat that dont have acces to sound driver. I dont know what to do - (where i must write alsaconfg???:)) )
