Problem installing Mandrake 9.1. No hdlists found...

I'm sort of at a loss as to what I should do here. the install chugs along until it claims to be done partitioning, and then comes up wit "Error. An error has occured. No hdlists found" and kicks me back to the partititon screen. Any help?

Moving to Mandrake forum

Welcome to LQ

Have you checked to make sure the iso's you downloaded (if you did so) were good using Checksums? Have you tried the non-graphical install? When that happens, you can switch to tty2 (I think?) with:
CTRL ALT F2
And see the actual error messages, that will be much more useful when troubleshooting

Finally, if you did download your iso's and didn't get your CD's an alternate way (such as the www.mandrakestore.com or a retailer) did you burn them to 700MB CDR's or something else? They are larger than 650MB, so that could be one problem right there...

Cool

Thanks for the welcome, I might be here a lot.

I decided it might be a harddrive error, at least I might as well check that out, so I attempted to install XP to use the console about 2 - 3 am. It claims it fixd an error so I'm trying to install once again. I was installing in text mode if it happens again I'll write out the real error message. But other then that I did download it and check the MD5's, and burned them to 700 mb cd's. I alsom have doubts about my cdrom, but that may have to wait until I find an install any OS. I am in the middle of install, will edit with result later today.

Deleted as poster claims that the Mandrake links were unwanted and unhelpful.
