Partitions under LVM Volume Group won't mount after install

Hi!

I've had some problems installating Mandriva 2006.0 on a system with:

ASUS P4C800 Deluxe
2 x 120GB SATA disks

The install procedure goes without any problems (partitioning, package selection etc). However, on the first startup/reboot after installation mounting LVM volume group always fail! There are no problems mounting the RAID.

My setup is:

2 x 120GB SATA disks

md0: /boot 256MB (ReiserFS)
md1: / ~15GB (ReiserFs)
md2: LVM vg00 ~100GB

vg00 (all partitions ReiserFS):
10GB /tmp
20GB /usr
10GB /var
5GB /var/www
2GB /swap

What can I do? Can this really be a hardware problem since it always fails at the same place?

What error messages do you get?

It can't mount the different partitions under LVM vg00. No complaints about the RAIDs.

FYI, I have the exact same setup on my laptop.

What's in your /etc/fstab? What error messages do you get when you try to point these LVM partitions manually with something like
Code:

mount /tmp
?

Sorry for the delay in answer. I still appreciate any help.

Just tried a clean install for X th time (X is too high) and end up with the same problem. All RAID devices are setup correctly, but I get the following error message during boot up:

"Failed to open the device '/dev/vg00/tmp': No such file or directory"

This messages shows for all my volume groups under vg00 except for swap ( tmp, usr, var and var-ww).

/etc/fstab (except for the RAID devices my fstab looks just like the one on my laptop):
/dev/md1 / reiserfs notail 1 1
/dev/md0 /boot
/dev/vg00/tmp /tmp notail 1 2
/dev/vg00/usr /usr notail 1 2
...

/dev/vg00 does not exist!

pvscan shows:

File descriptor 21 left open
PV /dev/md2 VG vg00 lvm [97.88GB / 52.95 GB free]

vgscan hangs!

What can I do? This has been keeping be from installing Mandriva 2006.0 for weeks now.
Did not have this problem when I installed Mandrake 10.0 - should I try to install Mandrake 10.0 and then upgrade?
I have asked for help on this issue at Mandriva Club Forums and also reported is as a bug: http://qa.mandriva.com/show_bug.cgi?id=19768
As a matter of fact there seem to be similar bug reports, see the links in my bug report (linked above).

I'll gladly give more information upon request.
