Package compilation for Mandriva RPM from Source code. How to do those???

I am using Mandriva and I love it. But I see there are so many good packages still has not ported to Mandriva.

for example. some cool packages for Ubuntu.. I know there are source packages for these are available.

I would like to compile these sources and port them to Mandriva-read-install RPMS. but I dont know what to do?
instead of just doing direct ./configure and make , what are the tools I have set? and what are the good process steps to create Mandriva RPM from source code?

You could use rpm --rebuild to build a source rpm. I recommend though reading the following:

Have you got the contrib repo included ? 11,800 packages :
http://ftp.linux.org.tr/mandriva/off...media/contrib/

And lots more in PLF http://easyurpmi.zarb.org/ : Add PLF medias.

Just use the build command(s) for that application : read README ? Documentation ?

Possible commands and scripts to be run to start building Linux software:
'perl Makefile.PL' , 'perl Build.PL' , 'python setup.py build' ,
# 'python setup.py install', 'cmake ..' , 'scons', './waf', 'jam' ,
'./install', './autogen.sh', './configure' (or 'sh configure'),
libtoolize && aclocal && autoheader && automake --add-missing && autoconf, .. .. etc.
