Arrow P2P File Sharing

Hey, I'm looking for a p2p program, preferably similar to Kazaa Lite. I installed Wine hoping to be able to run Kazaa Lite K++ (because it was on the list of supported programs), however it won't run. I tried BitTorrent, but I couldn't find the type of music I am looking for there. Can anyone help me?

Visit zeropaid.com and visit the linux link. They list client software that uses various p2p networks.

You might have the best luck with edonkey2000:

Emule just plain works (on Windows anyways) and it has no banners or spyware built in!

Here is a link that works:

http://www.emule-project.net

I guess there is an amule isn't there? But the link still doesn't work.

Here this works for amule http://www.amule.org (You got to have the www for it to work.)

I use Nicotine.

No adware, spyware, and written in python. If you know Soulseek, then Nicotine is the linux/mac equalivent with many more great features.

Avaliable in tar.gz, tar.bz2 or rpm (PLF).

Unfortunately, emule is a windows program. I have no idea if it works under wine... but why would you want it to? Amule is the port of Emule for linux.

and it has no banners or spyware built in!

I'm not sure if you're suggesting that amule has banners or spyware, but to set the record straight for anyone reading, this is not the case. In fact, they make the source code available, in case one wanted to check it themselves.

I guess there is an amule isn't there? But the link still doesn't work.

Odd, the link works just fine for me (mozilla 1.6), but thanks for the alternate.

Read again... I thought he had emule not amule.

I can open it with Mozilla 1.4 in Linux but I can't ping it in Linux. In Windows XP IE won't open it or ping it without the www.
It must be the domain name server.

Hey, If you are looking for software most like kazaa eg. fastrack protocol. Use the apollon frontend for gift. You can get gift, the fasttrack plugins for gift, gnutella for gift, and the apollon frontend from either texstars mirrors or the Penguin Liberation Front. It workts better than kazaa-lite in my opinion except that it doesnt block "bad" ip ranges as far as i know. You could do that with a firewall tho.

If you must run Kazaa-lite, there are websites that have kazaa pre-configurations so that all you have to do is basically untar the file and your off.

I tried amule/emule(win) and I really dont care for it. It might be better with higher bandwidth, but for my blazing dial-up connection, it sucks.

Ive heard that you can find files that are more rare with emule/amule (i guess the edonkey protocol/network), a friend found so old witchfinder general stuff on there, and I havent seen anything like that since napster was shutdown about 3 or 4 years ago..

Hey you dont have a distro listed. PLF and Tex are mandrake specific, and that's what i figured you were looking for since the post is in a mdk forum. But you can find prebuilt apollon slackware files from www.linuxpackages.net or a binary installer/sources from www.sourceforge.net.

I've tried configuring wine with kazaalite, xmule, you name it. I always find myself returning to direc connect. Just rpm -ivh, set the settings et voilą.

The homepage is: http://dcgui.berlios.de/index.php

PS connect to some large hubs and you will find most music you need.

One of the most diverse and a favorite of mine is giFT. If you have your contrib & PLF sources set up (google 'easy urpmi' if you don't have them) then you can just "urpmi giFT" & "urpmi giFTCurs". Works with the Gnutella network, FastTrack network & OpenFT network .
