Hi,
I've been searching for a while for a way to make my onboard CMI8338 chip work (on a PCChips M590 8M mobo w/ D-Link DFE 538TX network card, a PCI Geforce4 MX, 333MHz K6/2, 96Mb RAM and a 60Gb HDD, 20Gb of which is used for Linux).
When I type lspci I get:
Code:
00:00.0 Host bridge: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] 5591/5592 Host (rev 02)
00:00.1 IDE interface: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] 5513 [IDE] (rev d0)
00:01.0 ISA bridge: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] 85C503/5513 (rev 01)
00:01.1 Class ff00: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] ACPI
00:02.0 PCI bridge: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] SiS 530 Virtual PCI-to-PCI bridge (AGP)
00:09.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation NV17 [GeForce4 MX 420] (rev a3)
00:0b.0 Ethernet controller: D-Link System Inc RTL8139 Ethernet (rev 10)
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] 86C326 5598/6326 (rev 0b)
...which makes no sense to me at all, because I'm fairly new at all this.
If anybody could offer advice here, it'd be massively appreciated as I would really like to be able to use sound in Linux.
Oh, and ALSA doesn't like it either, nor does HardDrake. So yeah.
