on 9.2, exit window manager - no video

I've noticed this on 2 different systems. If I exit the window manager the video signal goes away--the monitor goes into the power save mode that you would get if you used a blank screensaver on NT. I assumed I would just drop to a commmand line, but that isn't happening.

One of the systems is set up for low security, in IceWM pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del will present the shutdown option. If I use it--boom--instantaneous loss of video signal and nothing will bring it back. Have to hard reset.

Anybody familiar with this?

Thanks!

what type of video card?

One is a Riva TNT32 Nvidea chipset and the other is a Number Nine Revolution 8Mb. Both do everything else flawlessly.

Their is a problem with the Nvidia drivers. it does sound like a video card problem. You might have more luck in the forum: http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/foru...?s=&forumid=14

Ill check it out, but like I said, this happens on two different systems with way different video cards. Anybody else have any experience with a loss of video signal?

Thanks!
