Nvidia problem - module loads but fails to initialise the adapter

Im using Drake 9.2 and NV 4363.

The module compiles ok, but x fails to start.

Using dmesg I get: "NVRM" rm_init_adapter - failed to initialise. Or something.

I actually tried the same thing on Fedora, with the same results. Bought a new card, same results. I'm wondering what gives?

try using newer Nvidia drivers. the latest version is 6629. it could be that the old drivers you're trying to use are buggy/imcompatable with newer kernel versions.

Sure... Its mysterious though as I used that version successfully with redhat...

There might already be a competing modules in memory from the bootup...

As root

service dm stop

Then

lsmod | more

and pay attention to any NV & AGP modules.
