OK, i have setup a mandrake cluster before, but now i just did a full install of mandrake 9.2 and here are my problems:

the perl lib is too old for a certain software package but when i update it i spends a hour or two with the cpan library and then spmething tot eh effect of "make test failed, maybe intterupted?"
and at that point i am left with an incomplete install, why!!


now i tried to install mysql and i download the tar unzip and try to configure that and it does not work


i have never had this type of trouble before
is it because i did a full install, i do need apache 1.3 with mod_perl and getting that to work has not happened yet

i really need some guidance, i am on a deadline of sorts
any help would be appreciated
i will try to post more of the error messages when i get back to the office tommorow morning

(oh and none of my package managers that i installed work just a pasword prompt comes up then nothing after i enter the password)
