none of the changes i make to my monitor refresh rate in the control centre stick

I want to run my system with a refresh rate of 70 hz at 1024 by 768. However when I log back into kde like it says to they are back at 75hz even though i have said the maximum is 70. How do I set it up so that kdm and kde are running at 70hz. I have tried in theb devices section on the kde control centre but it does not do anything. Any suggestions?

Your best bet is to edit your Xorg.conf file. Its found in
Code:
/etc/X11/xorg.conf
Open a terminal, su into root privilages, open your favorite text editor, i.e. vim, nano, and then add another line to your mode section that sets your monitor at 70hz. Don't know what to write? Use gtf. Just type this at the terminal, and it will kick back out a mode line you can paste into your xorg.conf

Code:
gtf 1024 768 70
It should kick something like this

Code:
ModeLine "1024x768_70.00" *insert a bunch of numbers here* +HSync -VSync
See if that dosen't fix your problem.

I installed the latest nvidia drivers the other day and tol it to change my x config, culd that have anything to do with it?

edit. I told xorg to use the nv driver and that started it all in 70.2 hz. So perhaps its using the new nvidia driver and telling it to edit my x org that causes the problem. Il grab one of the older releases and try that and edit xorg manully for it.
