When you configured your media sources, did you make sure to configure the update media sources too? I have the Main-updates, the Contrib-updates, and the Non-free-updates media sources configured on my system.
Open the Mandriva Software Manager (
Install and remove software in the menu system).
In the Options menu (top) select Media manager (opens the media manager)
Here you can see which media sources are enabled, and which are not.
On my system (Mandriva 2010.1 Spring x86_64), I have the following media sources listed (with their status):
