newbie trying to install Pear

I am trying to install the http://www.horde.org. One of the prerequisties is pear. I have downloaded and untarred this and I am trying to figure out how to install it.

http://pear.php.net/manual/en/installation.php does not tell me how to install the base packages. Doing a pear config-show gives pear: command not found.

I would appreciate someone setting me on the right track.

Thanksa lot,

Tom.

Could not figure out how to delete this question. The trick was uo untar pear to a folder in the search path, such as /usr/share/pear/

I want to do a
pear install Log Mail Mail_Mime
to install pear packages but when I do a pear in /usr/shear/pear it does not recongnize the command.

find / -name pear
gives
/usr/share/pear

I am running tcsh and have tried
set PATH = ($PATH /usr/share/pear)
but pear is still not found?

Cheers, Tom.

Is there are reason you can't just install pear with urpmi or the software install thingo in the Mandrake Control Centre? The package is named php-pear. If it can't find it goto http://easyurpmi.zarb.org and setup access to the repositories first.
