Hello - I have heard great things about Mandrake so I decided to try it. I downloaded ver10.0 and got the "no cd rom " error. OK so I tried using the alt1 option (the 2.4 version of the kernel) and the installationworked until.... the machine rebooted. Right after asking me if I wanted to boot to failsafe, floppy etc I choose linux and I got this screen below - and the computer froze. Failsafe gave me same KP

Great I cant post the picture... I said " No init found Try passing init option to kernel. " Further up it said "Error 6 mounting ext3" But the picture is worth a thousand words. Perhaps someone could post it for me I can give you the adress.

I think its a KP but why I have no idea. Could someone help me out so I can start useing Mandrake?

Toshiba p266 64MB no external devices. Bios set to cdrom->HD to boot (tried the oppisite too - also greeted with a KP)

And try re-installing from CD 2 and choose alternate CD

Second why are you wasting your time with 10.0 when that version will be dead in just a few months? 10.1 is the current release.

And if your just gonna be insistant on using what you have now hit the ESC key when you get the menu and type 'linux init=3' without the '

sorry KP= kernel panic. I guess the reason I used 10.0 was because of my older machine. whats magic about cd2 installation disk vers cd1?
