I apologize for the newbie-ness of this question ahead of time, but I cannot find a straight-ahead answer to my questions -- perhaps I am not giving google the right search terms. I have Mandrake 10, and the RPM management utility often asks me for the fourth install CD, which I don't have. How can I tell the RPM management utility to look at FTP sites and so forth to obtain newer RPMs (skins for MPlayer, in particular)? I used to use OS X, and they have the 'fink' utility for obtaining packages, which is done entirely through FTP without CDs -- are RPMs for Linux like that? Also, what is 'urpmi' and is it safe in the hands of a brand spankin' new Linux user like me?

First, follow the instructions here: http://www.urpmi.org/easyurpmi/ especiall the one at the bottom about removing your existing sources.

Urpmi is an automatic package installer. For example, if you wanted to install, say, Kwrite, you would open a console, use su to become root and type in urpmi kwrite, urpmi will go off to the web, find it and install it. If there is more than one package which matches your program name, it will list them and you can then narrow down what you need.
