Newb Question: How to get AWE64 to work on Mandrake 9.2
I am a linux newb and I need help trying to get my soundcard to work. I have an AWE64 value card (ISA) and it doesn't get detected by Mandrake Linux 9.2.
I've tried running HardDrake, it doesn't even detect it. Being a newb, point me out to where I should go next, generic help's good too. I'd appreciate any help. Thanks. |
in terminal, as root, type...........
Code:
sndconfig it will appear to hang & do nothing, but that's ok. it's searching for sound devices. when it's done, it will show you what it found & ask you if it's correct. if so, accept it. it will then set up the sound & give you a chance to test sound. when it's all done, use kicker->multimedia->sound & run aumix to set volume levels. save the settings. you can also go to the same menu & use kmix to make KDE specific volume adjustment, but you need to use aumix for the settings to stick after reboot or shutdown. otis |
thank you for the response. I'll write it down and try it at the computer I have linux installed on. I'll follow up with this if i'm successful or if there's further problems.
