Need help with finding a few alternatives to windows programs

Hi,

I just have a few questions that i thought i'd ask, I'm running mandrake 10, and for the most part, things have been going well, no major problems, and im quite happy with it, spending more time on it than xp, but i find myself going back to windows for a few reasons:

I need a sensor monitor for Mandrake which tells the CPU and case temps, possibly fan speed sensors as well, the reason i ask this is because here in California, it is too hot, and my comp has been overheating lately due to the weather, and in windows i use MBM 5 to keep an eye on the temps, but as i'm still new to alot of the software available under Linux, i dont know of anything suitable.

I tend to use Yahoo messenger alot, not the contact list, but the chat =) i am using gaim at the moment, and well, it was working, i hear yahoo changes protocols alot, so maybe its interfereing since it wont log in anymore, but connecting to msn works fine. I just was wondering if theres any programs out there that will connect to the yahoo chat servers as well?

I want to mount my windows partition permanently as a link/device/folder/whatever, to my desktop under Gnome, because i still have alot of files on it i occasionally need to work with. but i dont see how to do it, i have been able to access it using /mnt/windows under the file browser, but there has to be a simpler way?

also, I have xine set up as my default player for mpeg movies, but whenver i open another mpeg it will open another instance of the program, so i have two of them playing, is there a way i can stop that from happening, to make xine switch from what it was playing, to the new file? as i didnt seem to find anything regarding it. or possibly point me in the direction of a different player capable of basic mpeg/avi viewing, since i only have used xine to watch dvd's so far, and just need something quick and basic for viewing movie files on the web.

hope i made as much sense as possible =) typing isnt my strong point. feel free to ask for clarification if i wasnt, thnx

Simmy

gkrellm Should take care of your system monitor.
There's an updated version of gaim that will sort out your Yahoo instant messaging problem.
I don't use Xine so can't help there, and you should be able to create a link to your Windoze drive on your desktop using the right click - create link menu.
