Need Help with Dual Booting
 

I need to find a quick and easy way of getting a new partition on my drive so I can install Mandrake 10 on the other one. I am currently stuck on Windows XP pro right now and I'm becoming fustrated because I can't lose whats already on my computer and I can't burn backups. Partition magic is already out of the question because they make you buy it and it doesn't work anyways.

So can any of you help me out?

Mandrake does the partitioning itself. When you install, it suggest to use free space from Windows partitions. Indeed, you should be careful not to use tools as Partition Magic, since there are issues of these partitions not being detectable in a Linux installation.

These "issues" are not there if one uses Acronis Partition Expert in windoze instead. NTFS partition resizing in Linux is still rather spotty, so maybe it's not a good idea to use that in drakinstaller. My friends who did resize their NTFS windoze partitions wound up corrupting them somehow...
