Need help to decrypt error messages

I have no sound with this sound card
VIA Technologies|VT8233 [AC97 Audio Controller], the module snd-via82xx seems to be loaded correctly. I have found the following error message extracted from dmesg

via82xx: Assuming DXS channels with 48k fixed sample rate.
Please try dxs_support=1 or dxs_support=4 option
and report if it works on your machine.
PCI: No IRQ known for interrupt pin C of device 0000:00:11.5. Please try using pci=biosirq.
unable to grab IRQ 0
VIA 82xx Audio: probe of 0000:00:11.5 failed with error -16

I tried the options dxs_support=1 or = 4 (no effect) but I'd like to understand what mean the last 3 lines.

(Other error message extracted from /var/log/boot.log:
Feb 26 23:15:23 portable_linux alsactl: alsactl: load_state:1134:
Feb 26 23:15:23 portable_linux alsactl: No soundcards found...
Feb 26 23:15:23 portable_linux sound: R?glage des param?tres du mixeur failed
)

Thanks for help

I expected to understand first the error messages of my post, but the problem can be solved without understanding anythings. As it might help for other newbies (using Mandrake 9.2):

1- install acpi (urpmi acpi)

2- then change acpi=ht by acpi=force in /etc/lilo.conf

3- type lilo as root.

4- reboot

...and error messages disappear and sound works.
