I left my computer on last night, came down this morning and found it frozen. There didn't seem to be a kernel panic (ie no flashing lights on the keyboard) - it was just frozen. Are there any logs that would help me find out what happened. I know there are lots of logs, but i'm not sure where to start.

you could look through /var/log to check out log files. a frozen desktop could be several things. i'd start with the xfree log & system log to check for any info. just curious.............what vid card are you using & do you have nvidia drivers installed, if it's a nvidia card? those drivers are known to cause random freezes with certain cards, which is easliy fixed by adding an option to xf86config-4. also, one other thing.............are you using any power saving features? (hibernate, sleep, etc.) sometimes having those enabled can cause random freezes.

the card is a ati 9200, and i'm just using the drivers that come with the install - so there is no 3d accel.

I can't make heads or tails of the logs at the moment but i'll trwal though them
