My comp does not shut down

When I try to shut down the computer, the PC gets stuck. As I look at the verbose, I see that
everything went ok until the command Power Down. When it reaches that point, nothing else happens.

How can I solve this?

Power is not the command but an indication.

To allow the computer to shutdown you have to load APM module ("/sbin/modprobe apm" as root)

The way to enable it may depend on your distro (/etc/rc.d/rc.modules in slackware for example)

For Mandriva LE 2005:
click on menu button (star)/system/configuration/configure your computer
then type in root password, select Boot/set up how the system boots, now you should be at the boot loader page, put an (x) beside "Enable ACPI" by left clicking the box, click on NEXT then FINISH.
