MP3 player, monted but no access

Hi there, I am runing Mandriva LE 2005, been using Mandrake 10.1 Power for a long time.

My MP3 player worked fine under 10.1 but now I cant get it to work right, its USB and has worked fine. The FS on it is Fat32 I think.

I mount it with; as root

mount -t auto /dev/sda1 /mnt/MP3_PLAYER

But only root has access.

What command do I use to allow users to mount and umount it, and read and right to it?

Thanks in advance!

Add umask=000, and specify the filesystem type.
And look at man mount .

Nothing would work via the command line, but after a re-boot it found it automaticly, so I dont really know what was wrong, its working now.

Thanks for your help!

Hi there, don't really want to start a new thread as it's a similar problem. I've just got an USB MP3 player today and after plugging it in I thought Mandriva 2006 was good to go as it showed the device automatically. As soon as I started moving stuff to it (tried everything from mp3 to text file) it just displayed the usual No Permission to Write to Device message.

I logged out and back in as root to change the permissions of the device but it told me I had no permission to modify the permissions! Doh! I tried rebooting with the device still in and had the same problem. I've browsed through the forums and tried various other things but to no avail.

Can anybody help me out?
