Mouse won't work after install

After installing Mandriva 2008 one, the mouse only functions up and down. cannot get any other movement with it, therefore cannot even log in!

It is a basic USB cordless mouse, all of my other hardware has been recognized and functions OK except this.
Any suggestions would be welcome, incidentally had this issue with the 'live' environment, but thought full install would cure it, was able to use the mouse whilst going through the install process, so completely lost here!
Thanks in advance for any help.

Sounds like a driver problem, but I don't know what driver you need. You should still be able to log in on the non-X ttys (Ctrl-Alt-F2, Ctrl-Alt-F3, etc.).
