mouse wheel not working

I have a problem to make my PS2 wheel mouse (generic) to work. It was working perfectly on Mandrake 10.0. I just installed Mandrake 10.1 and now the wheel on my mouse doesn't work.
I tried different types of the mouse in the hardware configuration tool and the mouse wheel didn't work. Does anybody have an idea?

add options to xorg.conf under mouse section:

Code:

    Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
    Option "Buttons" "5"
    Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"

...and reload X

I only had three buttons enabled.
By the way I tried to install the Radeon 9000 Pro driver from ATI web site. It complained that I do not have XFree86 or something. Is there a way to install the driver under Xorg or do I need to switch to XFree86?
