I have encountered a sudden problem with X recently. Frequently, something happens to X where the mouse no longer works (keyboard is still fine). The only way I have come up with so far to fix it is to ssh into the box and kill the 'X' process as root. Has anyone else encountered this and/or have a suggestion as to how I might resolve it? Thanks.
No. Just normal day to day usage, then it started.

4. What kind of hardware?
AMD 2.1GHz, 2.5GB memory. It been running fine for more then a year. I should add that I have this on a KVM switch and the mouse works fine on the other system so it cannot be the mouse per se.
Thanks for the reply. My KVM switch is not that fancy. Its a hard wired A-B switch. I have a new solid state switch on order. If the switch is the problem, or contributing to it, maybe that will clear it up.
