I did a fresh install of Mandrake 9.2 (powerpack first 3 cd's from the mandrake club).

When you pull up/down a menu, such as the KDE "start" menu, there is a large lag between the item highlight and the mouse pointer. You move the mouse up, and the highlight lags 3-4 items behind it, only catching up when you stop moving the mouse.
Any fix for this?

Other than that, when browsing the /mnt directory the listing takes 30 seconds to appear on the screen.

Overall, though, 9.2 seems to be much more responsive on my system.

I have the same problem with the KDE 3.1.3 menuing vs the mouse. It is very annoying! That is why I switched to Gnome 2.4. Although not as fancy, it is quite effective and working very well. I may (or may not) switch back to KDE when Mandrake correct this problem. For others who may wonder, it has nothing to do with the speed of the PC since this is not happening with KDE 3.1.4 in Fedora Core 1.

As an update, I was playing around with different window decorations, themes, etc... and also doing the update-menus -v stuff. I don't know why/when, but the problem has corrected itself. Seems to work fine now...
