Mount msdos floppy disc in Mandriva rescue mode
I have installed Mandriva 2005LE onto a SATA drive alongside a Windows XP SATA RAID 0 setup. Mandriva does not dedect the SATA RAID Drives so I can't use LILO to dual boot, so I have comeup with a solution by searching around.
I want to be able to copy the Mandriva boot image onto a floppy disk, I have booted up into Mandriva with the rescue mode off the DVD image I have and mounted all drives and chroot /mnt, I have then typed:
The next command I want to run is this:
1. Is the floppy formatted?
try this even if you think it is; mkfs.msdos /dev/fd0
also you don't have to do -t msdos usually when mounting a floppy.
2. A better use of that command would be;
dd if=/dev/sdb2 bs=512 count=1 of=/mnt/Mandriva.bin
and then cp the Mandriva.bin into /mnt/floppy.
Thanks for your help, managed to get the bootsector onto the floppy disk, but now Mandriva won't boot, I get the ntldr prompt to choose Mandriva but after that the cursor just blinks at me on a black screen, I'll have to do some more digging around I suppose.
