Could someone tell me how to stop the monitor from going to sleep. I am running Mandriva Spring. Thanks in advance.

Do you have ACPI enabled at boot? Open up Mandriva Control Centre (the blue & white monitor icon on the top panel, or type mcc in terminal - you'll be asked for root password either way) then go to Boot options. Click on Set up how the system boots, & if not already done, click in the box next to Enable ACPI. Reboot if this box was not already ticked. Then, in Gnome at least, go to System -> Preferences. There should now be a Power Management option - click on that & slide the pointer to Never in the option to Put display to sleep. Voila! No more blanking screen! The Screensaver option in Gnome System Preferences also links to Power Management

Followed your directions and noticed that the box opposite "Enable ACPI" was ticked. Couldn't see anything else other than under Main Options: Delay before booting default image (10)
