Modem connection

Just upgraded from md9.2 to md10 official. I downloaded and installed the conexant driver from linuxant but cannot get a connection. I tried /dev/modem but message says it cannot find the modem. /ttsy0 recognizes the modem and initializes but goes no further with the connection. With ttsy there are no modem commands listed as there should be. Would appreciate any ideas on how to get connected.

thanks
john

please provide real debugging messages from dmesg etc....

Using kppp configuration box, when modem device is set to /dev/modem, connect gives message: kppp cannot find /dev/modem-make sure setup is correct and/or adjust the location of the modem device on the modem tab of setup dialog.
Setting up the modem device as /dev/ttsy0, message says modem ready and then initialixzing modem. The debug window says expecting ok but nothing else happens-no error messages, no no time out messages, no problems indicated at all. I also tried the terminal and it said modem ready but I could not enter any information.
md9.2 internet connection was working fine prior to upgrade. Nothing that i know of was changed. Also it is a dialup connection. Hope this helps

Thanks for response

When checking mcc hardware setup for modem, i ran the config tool and it said sorry but we suppot only 2.4 or higher. Don't know what this means. Modem is a conexant riptide which the linuxant driver usually handles.

I also checked with linuxant faq.Suggested running modprobe /dev/ttySHSF to see if mdoule was loaded. Result was module not found. Since this is an upgrade and not a clean install, would it affect the modem settings from previous 9.2?
