Yeah I too have that, guess those are the cons of having thacīs rpms, I really wish there were proper mandrake rpms in the kde site, they have rpms for suse red hat etc.
Coming back to the subject, I have no clue about how to remove the menus try
Code:
update-menus -v
First run this as root and then as regular user.

However to remove the multiple buttons in konqueror, just configure the toolbar, remove one button, apply, you will now see only one set of buttons, then you can add the button you removed.

Since you are asking all this, I trust the network install went well(or did you d/l the isos?).
