mcc crashes

I have a brand-new installation of mandriva 2006. I used mcc to set up a printer and install openldap. mcc crashed, and won't re-launch from kde. (I can still launch it from a remote computer.)

the errors I got were:
Code:

QMultiInputContext::changeInputMethod(): index=0, slave=xim
That was the first time I launched it. Now, all I get is the last line.

I would like to be able to configure my computer graphically (I'm not quite a guru) Plus, I think it's odd a brand-new installation should fail like this.

Any help would be appreciated,.
