Hi folks, I'm using mandrake 10.1 on my home pc and had really good luck with this version.
However, I just purchased a Gateway TL-52 laptop with 160gb harddrive, 2gb ram and an ATI Radeon graphics card. It has the AMD 64x2 chip set. I downloaded and burned the 3 CD's for the 64 chip for madriva 2007 free and the install started good, but hung up halfway through. I tried a basic install with the first CD and it got to the point that it stated that my system did not support 3d. It appeared to finish installing, but now when I boot into Linux, it hangs at the splash screen. I also tried to install without ACPI. I've downloaded the DVD and will try to install again from that to see if that may help. Any other ideas?

Make sure plug and play is off in the bios. Also, noapic and nolapic both should be used in installing on a laptop. Either that or turn off all the power stuff intil after you have completed the install. Be sure you have ran the md5sum and have burned at a slower speed.

Thanks for the info. I had downloaded the DVD version and reinstalled using that disk. Everything seemed to work better, and I chose to install all the desktops and not just the 3d default one. It appears to be working great. Thanks again!
